tengibarki != tengibarki

Post by karlp »

Not all hose braids are equal. I've often had problems with almost stuck sparges, and sunday night it was just totally stuck. I'd emptied and cleaned and restarted three times, and had wet grain all over kitchen floor. The grist looked more powdery than normal, but I wasn't expecting complete failure. Decided to just replace the hose braid with something coarser. Went shopping and quickly found that not all braids are equal. My original piece is far far far tighter than the new one. Mashing now, so hopefully a faster/freer sparge, and maybe, just maybe, I might even get over 65% efficiency!

First night efficiency was actually worse. since then it's been about exactly the same.

However, ease of use is way way way better! :D I can just turn on the tap and it drains out. Just the way it was always meant to be :)
